THIS I BELIEVE ... I stand in awe of the natural world. It is impossible to overstate the wonder of it. It is self-evident to me, certainly not unreasonable, that there is an Architect, a Designer with enormous talent and a Master Builder with unfathomable resources, a Creator for this awesome creation. It did not happen by chance -- that is a leap of faith I cannot accept. I BELIEVE IN GOD THE CREATOR. Creation is good -- its Creator must be very good. This goodness means not having faults and being benevolent in nature. I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY AND LOVING GOD. Something is wrong, though. "All creation groans." We are all, all of us, fatally flawed in ways that matter. I know I am. My wife knows I am. ALL HAVE SINNED AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD and THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH. If God is Holy, can He tolerate sin, rebellion? If God is Loving, will He repudiate us with our sin? We need a Redeemer to buy us back from our sin, and God sought a Mediator to reconcile us to Him. FOR GOD LOVED THE WORLD SO MUCH THAT HE SENT HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, SO THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. This I believe. |
